Maryville (pronounced /Mare:uh:vul) is a city in and the county
seat of Blount County, Tennessee. The city is located 20 miles
south of Knoxville. It is included in the Knoxville Metropolitan
Area.
Maryville is bordered on the north by it's twin city, Alcoa,
Tennessee.
These cities are in the Foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.
Chilhowee Mountain, the outermost ridge of the Western Smokies,
rises prominently to the south. Chilhowee's eastern flank— known
locally as "The Three Sisters"— is visible from almost anywhere
in the area, and dominates the southern horizon along US-321
between Maryville and Walland.
McGhee Tyson Airport is a joint civil-military public airport
serving the Knoxville metropolitan area and located approximately
10 miles (16 km) south of the central business district of Knoxville,
in Alcoa, Blount County, Tennessee.
